Another What Line Question

Featured Replies

I use PP braid on all my rods and love it. From 8# on my ultralite spinning to 50# on heavy BC. 20# on all my 20 series spinning reels on 6'6" - 7' rodss.

I just got a nice Quantum Lindner's edge 6'6" medium baitcaster that is nice and light. I teamed it with an old little Curado 101b greenie. I plan to throw/pitch light plastics and jigs up to 1/4 oz or so

Should I stick with braid, or try flouro? I have had bad experiences with flouro on spinning but not tried it on a BC.

As I said I love braid. Water here is not too clear. I have 10# Seaguar red or 14# Tatsu. Any reason to switch from braid?

Depends on the cover I guess. You pitch light plastics in sparse cover or? Rocks and stuff flurocarbon /soft cover braid but I will now use both in whatever cover, lol!! So idk...

Well Id say you have to at least give FC a try on bc especially that you already have the line. I tried it (sniper 10&12# ) and line management was much better than I though it would be didnt even use L&L Tatsu is said to be even better. The stretch though is what I dislike the most and going from braid to FC the stretch is very noticeable.

I think you will REALLY like the #14 Tatrsu.

Why not keep the braid since you like it and use a flouro leader.

If you are happy with braid, there is really no reason to change.  However, if you think you are missing out on something then give fluorocarbon a try.  As RW stated, you will like the Tatsu though you may not like the price.  FC does have more stretch, but is dense so it transmits vibrations quite well despite the stretch.  Since you are using the new setup for "light" plastics and jigs, fluorocarbon might help these lighter lures to sink on windy days as well.  If abrasion resistance or ability to sink are among your concerns you should try out FC.

Fish with the line YOU LIKE.

Know it´s strengths and weaknesses and compensate. You like braid, you know it´s abrassion resistance against sharp objects sucks and you know that such weakness can be compenasted by tying a leader of another kind of line.
