I just bought a 2005 Stratus and it is my first experience with a fiberglass boat. The problem is when I put the boat in the water, the rear live well gets water in it without me turning on any pumps. Why is this happening? I am use to aluminum jon boats, so this is new to me.

The intake for the live well is below the water line which it should be. You can close the valve for the live well and water shouldn't get in unless the valve leaks. One tried and true way to keep water out is to get a piece of pic pipe that tightly fits the drain hole. Cut it about 2 inches short of hitting the lid.

But will I still be able to let water in and out when I chose too?

If it is only getting a small amount of water it can also be coming through the drain, try plugging the drain before you put your boat in the water and see if it stays dry.

I'm guessing it's got a flowrite valve it in for the livewell. Depending on what valve is installed, it will let in water as it's supposed to. That way as the pump runs it brings in some fresh water instead of recirculating it all. There should be a dial or switch somewhere that would offer a little more information as to what you have.

Depends all on what livewell controls you have. Odds are you have a Flowrite system. Take a look on your boat and refer to this document. Basically tells you how it will work.
