Jig Assembly

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I got a quick question...I was making some 1 oz jigs last night and had problems putting on the skirts. The jig has two notches so you can attatch a rattle as well. It was very difficult to get the skirt up on the jig. Once I got the skirt where I wanted it, some of the pieces of the skirt were a little messed up from the pressure I was putting on it to slide it onto the jig. Is there an easier way to do this...or are there bigger skirts for a jig this size? Thanks!!

I assemble my own skirts using a pair of needle nose plies and a small amount of Vaseline. If you buy your skirts already assembled, just wet the jig (saliva) or very lightly coat the jig with Vaseline, then slid the skirt on.  :)

I'm going to guess you have a poison jig mold. It is a pain for sure. I do the same as Crackerjack  just a dab of vasaline or saliva will fix you up.

Yeah, you are right on the mold. It is the poison mold that I have. I supposed you could probably file down the ridges a little on the jighead as well, and it may slide on better.

I figured so, I have the same one and noticed the same thing.   That extra collar is where I put the rattles.  Works out greate.

I believe there is a tool you can buy to help with the skirts.
