Lure Retriever

Featured Replies

What are you guys using to retrieve your lures from being hung up? I bought a plug plucker from ebay and it has saved me several times from loosing expensive lures, but it is a little bulky. What are you using? Any suggestions?

I use Big Ugly plug knockers. From EBay, fairly cheap and work great

Tie a hounddog on to a spare marker float. Double duty.

i have a hound dog now but used a 2oz egg sinker w/ small chain link attached for 2 seasons. i don't have a space issue so i attach it to a construction chalk line. ive seen guys use a 30 ft retractable dog lease. it's much faster to take up but it def takes more room.

What is a hound dog?

bill dance lure retriever. comes with a reel system. Will ditch it when the rope shows fatigue and use a dog leash.

I use a telescoping lure retriever from Frabil, I rarely lose a bait I can reach with it and I get lots of other people's baits out of trees that didn't have a lure retriever :)

I've got the dotline lure retriever that's very similar to the Frabil one. Easily pays for itself within a few uses. It's not as compact as a plug knocker, but I feel it does a better job. Very few baits are ever lost with one.

I thnk that when the subject is lure retrievers, you need them both, i.e. a hound dog type that you can drop and an extendable pole type.  I think that these tools are necessary equipment, that you make room for in your boat, like a fire extinguisher and throwable flotation.  My retrieval tools have saved me probably hundreds of dollars of gear over the years.

Yea I agree. I will look into getting one of the others also.
