Bad Batch?

Featured Replies

I just started using these Trokar 130 Flipping hooks, and after two fish the hook started to straighten. My set up was a 7' heavy action, with 50lb braid.

I like the hooks, but don't like the fact that this happened. I didn't do nothing crazy, I bent down and grabbed the fish. NO swinging the fish in the boat, or pulling the fish through muck.

Have any of ya'll had this problem with this hook?

I want to say I read or watched/heard somewhere else that this is a semi-common problem with these hooks and braid - but I can't for the life of me remember where I came across that piece of potential information. I shall continue my internet search for answers...I almost want to say it was on a youtube fishing series

I had 2 of these this happened to yesterday as well. I do know one of them got straightened out while trying to free it from someone else's old, tangled up fishing line. As to the other I have no idea besides catching a couple of good fish on.

Been using these for a while with no issues. What size? I've been using 4/0 and have gone through atleast 2 packs since I started using them beginning of last year and haven't noticed a single one straighten out yet.

I punch with a 7'6" heavy with 65#. I just bought some 5/0 for some of my ticket plastics but havent used them yet. I would bet the larger gap between eye and point might make them easier to straighten out

Well read reviews on *** they are not exactly stellar, look, been using Owners for years and older models of Mustad and some gammys for small work... Not one hook failure ever! Not one! I bought a pack of Trokar flipping hooks, 4/0....

One point roll over, first use.... Trash can! That's my advice, FWIW.....Don't fret though, Owner makes the best hooks on the market... Again my opinion , I do like many Gamakatsu models too though.... Surely, you would find reliable hooks with these other company's... Hooks are So important.....

Good luck.....

Reviews = TW....

I read Trokads bent over in a Field & Stream hook review I believe.

4/0

Ill pay more attention to my hooks in the future. I had heard about this happening in the past but that it had been fixed.

The only problem I have ever had with the trokars is the needle point of the hook can bend out on a snag. At that point the hook is shot.

Probably just a bad batch, I have never bent a Trokar hook.

I have never bent a Trokar either and that is all I use.  I also don't hookset into rocks using 65lb braid.
