Truturn Hooks

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any kind of schematic to describe how True Turn Hooks function and why at one time they were the cats meow?

How about on a Dropshot?

All that we used when they came out - they worked, always sharpened them before a tournament. I think the new hook technology has kind passed them by.

A blast from the past, that's what I used many moons ago. They need sharpening because they come quite dull from the box ( not worth the effeort, considering you can get better hooks that are razor sharp out of the box for about the same money ) , one thing I noticed is that the ratio of hooked through the eye socket bass increased dramatically when I used them, I'm shure the rotating action of the hook when you set it has to do with the problem. I still had some, maybe 50 or 60 in various sizes a few years ago before I eventually trashed them, anyway, they were decomissioned several years before.

They do work but as others said, they get dull fast. If they made these with a black nickel finish with a chemically sharpened point I'd buy them again.

Eagle Claw still uses them on their Crappie Rigs, it's all I use for Crappie fishing...

I use them still i bnought about 50 packs of brutes in diff sizes for 50 cents each a few yrs ago.and i use the perma steel ones for saltwater with great success

I have to say I dont know what it is, but my hook up ratio goes up a LOT when I use TruTurn hooks. So now they are all I use.

Tru Turns absolutely work, and well, you will need to use a appropriate file, sharpen them up, and they will work.... I think better hooks are defiantly available.... I have not used them since 93.... Except on panfish .... I saw them a couple weeks ago at BPS.... Like 2$ plus.... For 6 or 7 5/0 hooks... Not my choice now.... But yea they do work.... Still issued to military survival kits....

Owner down shot hook #5133 is ideal skin hooked drop shot or split shot rigs.

Tru-Turn hooks had poor quality wire and dulled easily.
