I've seen Maxima mentioned from time to time when it comes to fishing line.  How come I don't see more talk about there lines?  

 

 I was reading about their Ultra Green mono and read a few posts about it being very good in clear water.  Anybody have any experience with Ultra Green mono?  

 

 I think last year I asked on a board about the strongest six pound and four pound line and someone mentioned Maxima.  Does Maxima have a good reputation for making strong line?  

Maxima ultragreen is good stuff. I have been using it as leader material for braid in 10 to 15lb test for a long time on Erie. A-Jay and I have both used it as main line for largemouth south of the border at lake Baccarac. It has excellent strength and abrasion resistance and low visibility in the green color.

It's not talked about because there are so many other GREAT lines to choose from. Sunline makes the best line on the market period and Seagur, as well as Gamma

 Dwight's correct, I am a big fan of Ultragreen.  When mono is called for, I'm using it. 

I've also switched from Big Game to this Maxima line for all my braid main line leaders.

 

I will not claim that Ultragreen "is the best line period" as I have not tried them all.

 

After using this one - there's no need.

Worldwide, Maxima is a very popular line. I used to use it in the days when 10 and 12 pound monofilament line was the norm, and before the onset of fluorocarbon. It is IGFA rated so the breaking strength shown is what you get.

 

Can not fault it in any manner.

 

IMHO a very overlooked line that is as good as any, and maybe better than most.

I gave the 20lb a shot for swimbaits and loved it. Liked it so much i tried out the 6 & 12. I think 10-12lb is a perfect crankin line. 

The camo brown stuff has very high abrasion resistance. It is what I fish steelhead in very rocky rivers with.  I use ultragreen for my topwater rod in 6lb, no complaints and very manageable. Good mono for sure, never needed to try anything else, but might try sunline super natural one of these days.

Maxima is the best mono Ive found and I only use mono.  That said, in my part of the country it is virtually impossible to find.  For me line, like shoes, are best not bought sight unseen.

How's the memory of the 8 and 10 pound mono ultra green? If I try this line it would be in the 8 and 10 pound range on a 2500 size shimano spinning reel. I currently have 10 pound Stren on my Symetre 2500 and it handles it well.

Maxima is a high memory premium mono, try 8 lb on you 2500 spinning reel.
