Convince Me

Featured Replies

After posting thread, after thread.. After a few more threads on hunting with a shotgun, and being indecisive on using buckshot and not wanting to risk shooting slugs in a semi urban environment, I FINALLY landed on getting a new... Bow.

I tried my hand at bow hunting last year, and although I did enjoy it, I put it down when rifle season started and focused on that from that point on.

A few days ago, I upgraded a very old and very cheap Jennings that was given to me to a new PSE Vision.

With bow season not being too far off, I need some help on broadhead selection. Out of the ones Im about to mention, which would you choose?

Im down to: muzzy mx-4, muzzy trocar, slick trick mags, or rage 2 blade

Not mentioned but great heads are the grim reapers

Fixed, Slick Trick 100 mags

Mech, Grim Reapers

Best two heads out there IMO

Got me my biggest buck ever and a small doe only used one season so far.

Iv heard a lot about the reapers. What is yalls experience with them?

Im five for five with the reapers...only one of them went more than 50yds and that was because i shot just a touch high. Got one lung and his decending aorta...a blind man could have followed the blood lol

G5 strikers..there a fix blade and also are very effective on big game. I have taken big bears, moose and lots of whitetails with them and never had a issue. Great penetration and fly identical to a field point when you make sure you spin test them. I wouldnt shoot anything else and all my clients have switched to them for big game

Slick tricks are some of the best flying fixed broadheads you can get.  Muzzys are good, but might take some tuning.  I haven't taken a deer with Grim Reapers, but I hear good things about them.  They're not on your list, but my personal favorite are Magnus Stingers.

Another that's not on your list is the Ram Cats.  They fly spot on with my field tips, and have a huge cutting surface.  Not sure what you're hunting, but they are great on larger game like elk, mule deer, etc.  My only complaint is getting them to fit all the way into a quiver!!

of what you mentioned,,,Slick Tricks, but I use only VPA three blade, mechanicals and heads you can remove blades I have little use for, the kill arrow I have now has killed 6 deer last year same head just a few swipes across a diamond hone after each kill, and ready for anther, watch em drop, I will be starting the season with the same arrow and head going after #7, with a new this year TP Venom,,,can't wait, feel like I'm 50 again with a new toy,,,, :happy-138:

Rage double or triple blades do the trick for me. They're all effective with a well placed shot though.
