Re Release Of The Old Wiggle Wart

Featured Replies

I remember reading somewhere that Storm is bringing back the old wiggle wart design, anyone have any news or links with info?

It has been out for several years, they made a really big fanfare when they decided to return to the original molds.

The colors still suck compared to the old baits though.

I have some of both and they both catch fish. New ones are for fun fishing, old ones are for tournaments for me.

Here's a side by side of a new vs old wiggle wart in V38 color (green crawdad). Top is the new one, bottom is the old one. Quite a bit of difference in what is supposed to be the same color.

I'm not a Wiggle Wart expert but I thought the ones that are out now are the "new Originals."  The new Warts at Icast were just showing new colors.   That's how I understood it anyway.

Apparently they're going to use the old molds to build wiggle warts again.

It was just released at this years Icast.  Old molds will now be used again.  It will have the mold line on the bottom and they are offering new colors.  Don't know when they will be on shelves.

Exactly, the "new" originals are made with the old molds.

The old molds were destroyed.  The current warts are the "original series" warts and in their outwordly appearance they look like the old ones but the density of the plastic and the rattles on the big warts are very different.  The current warts do not have the hunting action of the original baits and are a more stable bait.

There's a number of baits out there that are trying to fill the shoes the old warts left.  The Hunts for Center Liver Target Crawfish or Brads Wiggler might be worth a shot.

The Luck E Strike G5 is a very good bait that hunts well and has some good colors. Doesn't seem like it ever got much love though and is quickly becoming hard to find. I bought 10 of them for $2 apiece recently from a tackle shop that wasn't going to carry them anymore because they weren't selling.

Check out the Megabass SM-X Spriggan.  It's a Megabass Wart If I ever saw one and supposedly has a very erratic action.

Still, not everyone is willing to fork over 19 dollars for a lure.

You should see what guys are forking over for pre-rapala wiggle warts.

Yeah, but those people are the ones who are willing to pay the premium price anyways. (like me)
