G Loomis Imx Vs Gl3

Featured Replies

I need a jig and worm rod for jigs up to 3/4 oz. I want to get a g loomis 7 ft heavy mag bass. Trying to decide between the new imx and the gl3 mag bass. I heard that the new imx isn't great its more like a $200 rod if that's true I'd rather get the gl3 for $240. What do u guys think?

I have the old model IMX and the GLX MBR844 and if I really wanted another IMX, I would be patient and watch the classifieds here or other bass fishing sites and ebay and wait for the older model IMX to show up before I bought the GL3.

Good advice.

I'd look for a used old model GLX. I wasn't too impressed with the new IMX or the GL3 rods, I have $160 rods that outperform them by quite a margin.

I was able to pick up and cast a new IMX 844c rod this weekend.  It was paired with a Daiwa Zillion.  This was also not on water, just a casting plug outside a tackle shop.  With that said, I have the old 844c and the new one reminded me of my Shimano Crucial.  It may be the split grips.  It was lighter and the sensitivity was about the same but overall it felt unbalanced with the reel that it was paired with.  It was kind of tip heavy and stiffer.  Again this was not on water.  My opinion may totally change if water and a fish was involved.

One thing though, it looked less conservative compared to other G. Loomis rods.  In the end, I think if this rod is paired with the correct reel, it might have felt better.
