What baits do you like best for drop shotting? I have had luck with a Missile Baits Fuse and a Zoom Finesse worm, but want to try some more, give me you suggestions.

I drop shot quite a bit and have found that certain baits are more homerun hitters then others throughout the year. Lots of baits can be used effectively when fish are active but only certain baits will work on a tough bite or when the water is cold early and late in the year. For me I could never choose one but the baits that I have with me at all times are the following:

Jackall I Shad

Jackall flick shake - rigged wacky as opposed to nose hooked

Jackall cross tail shad

Roboworm 4 in straight tail

Roboworm Sculpin FX

Keitech Sexy Impact 3.8 and 4.8 inch

Keitech Swim Impact 4 inch

 

None of these baits are ultra high priced - all offer a good combination of action, scent/salt content, and color options to match your water clarity.

I had good luck this year on the Zoom Z Drop.

Unfortunately that is one bait I had high hopes for. Fished it last spring during a hot drop shot bite side by side to the crosstail shad. Never got bit on zoom z drop once. I will try it again in the fall as typically zoom products are among the best out there for productivity. Glad to hear encouraging reports though...

I rigged it on a VMC spinshot 1/0 hook with an 1/8th oz weight and 6lb FC line.  I ran the hook in on the flat side, I move back off the head about a 1/4 inch and start the hook in the flat part of the bait until just the very tip of the hook is exposed.  I had good luck with two colors, morning dawn and green weenie.    I fish in clear water with a green tint, this bait worked well for me and was durable.   

 

I don't know if it is as good as the crosstail shad as I have never used them.

Jackall Crosstail Shad has been far and away my best producer.

Rage craws, Ika and Gitzit tubes, Pro Senko, Powerbait twitch tail minnow, zoom tiny flukes, and flick n' shimmy 4.8" wacky rigged, but I truly think any bait with multiple appendages or action is great when fish are active, and a tube/small senko or trick worm when picky. I have used Brush hogs and lizards and swimbaits as well with success, a 3" sassy shad is awesome in the fall.

My favorite dropshot baits are the ragetail baby craw and the baby thumper. Small baits with great action always get bit.

The I Shad doesn't drop to much in the water because of its weight creating an odd angle the bait lays in the water?? Or do you use that more when you are dragging your drop shot more?
