Thinking Of Repainting Zara Spook, Not Sure What Color

Featured Replies

I have a Zara Super Spook Jr in the bone color that I don't use much. I haven't caught much on it compared to my other colors so it just sits in the tackle box.

Being that it is the bone color it shouldn't be difficult to sand it down and repaint it, but I'm not sure what color.

What do you guys think a good color would be? Either solid or a two-tone? I saw one online that was white with a blue head. Maybe do that and add some red on the underside? I know I could probalby buy one but now that it's starting to get colder, I like having little projects to do in the winter when I can't fish.

If this should go in the lure making forum, please move. I wasn't sure which would be the best spot.

The bone color with a little orange on the underside works great for the waters I fish.

X2.

I don't even buy any other color of spook. A bone Jr or one knocker is my #1 producer for inshore fish and my first choice for bass as well.

Edit: there are two different. ....actually three different bone colors. I like the bone with silver insert. Then there's regular bone and bone with an orange throat.

White body red head has been a spook color practically since it was invented and still is, so it must be for some reason.

I like Bone & a frog pattern really well, I did use a white/red head in costal Fl. It worked well in salt..
