Why Aren't Phenix Rods More Popular?

Featured Replies

I recently bought a phenix m1 7' 2" m spinning I caught a few largemouth and smallmouth on it up to 2.5 lbs and performed great. It's lighter and better balanced then the dobyns champ IMO. Used it for dropshotting and tubes my friend has the m1 7' 2" mh casting, composite x, and m1 inshore and he loves them. So my question is, why don't they get more attention in the bass fishing industry? Are there any other phenix fans out there?

well i sure like em man!!!

They are pretty popular, you just aren't looking hard enough. Lots of the guys I know and fish with use phenix rods.

West Coast thing. I have 4 for bass fishing, and thinking of adding an M1 inshore.

They aren't more popular because outside of the west coast, nobody carries them.  A lot of people won't buy a rod if they've never had a chance to handle one.

I'm not on the west coast and I love throwin big baits on my Phenix swimbait rod

service is great too!

Just got a recon 2 7'1 ml for my px68. Super light and handled some okay smallies last week. I was leery of buying a $170 rod sight unseen but in ml your options are pretty limited. Happy with the purchase though.

I like them for the most part. They have a JDM look and IMO are pretty sensitive among competing similarly priced rod lines. The only complaints would be the are light in overall weight but the balance of my Recon is average at best. Also the hook keeper is in a bad spot and broke easily within a few months. Still a good rod for the money and the UMBX rods in the "classic" version look stunning.

I would like to get my hands on a K2 production rod at some point when they are released though building on the blank would be very tempting.

What Jrob78 says, between that company & lamiglas I have yet to run into either company's rods anywhere in Ky. Or Indiana..
