Anyone been to Sooner Lake lately is the discharge running?  what is the water temps?

 

Thinking about going in the next couple of weeks.

Funny, we were having the same conversation at lunch, the guys told me to skip Sooner and hit Hudson or Tenkiller

I only caught tiny ones at tenkiller I have been 2 times in the last 2 weeks.  If they have the turbines running I would rather take my chances at sooner.

I use to pass by Sooner a couple of times a week, but have not been by there since this summer. I know there are some large fish in lake, and they catch them from time to time.

is there a website that keeps track of the water temps or is is just from people who have fished recently? i am in wichita and want to fish this lake but not much info out there that i have found.

I just checked the OK Wildlife and Fisheries website. Sooner is NOT one of the lakes that has levels available. Every  time I've been there, the lake has been full. I haven't been by there in a while but I think they are able to keep it full somehow because they need the water to generate electricity. It must be magic because there are some lakes in that area that are down significantly.

The lake level at Sooner is maintained by pumps, they pump water from the Arkansas river into the lake.  It was filled the same way.

i was wondering about the water temp. is there a place to look that up?
