As in a white bass? Like hybrid striper? Looks like a largemouth to me.

Yea, I agree, looks like a mostly dead largemouth. Is that a owner twistlock lite wire in its lip?

Auggie

I thought it to be a Wiper - White Bass and Striped Bass Hybrid.

The mouth is smaller than Large Mouth's that I have caught.

The lack of lateral line and silver color add to my curiosity.

Thanks

Not an Owner - How about a Flying Lure. lol

This fish was about 3 lbs and pulled like a Freight Train for it's size.

I caught 5 Largemouths the same day and they did not look like this fish.

It's a largemouth. But, the lack of lateral stripe and silvery color is likely due to its immediate surroundings, or for social reasons. Bass like other fish are chameleon-like (well almost) in that they can adjust hue and change patterning to quite a degree. Lack of markings and silvery reflectance is common when bass are in open water for some extended period or in turbid water.

No hybrid, it's a common, ordinary, everyday LMB.

Largemouth bass. Variety of reason why it has a pale coloration and somewhat "faded lateral line" Vegatation gives bass(and other fish) a darker, greener appearance, so this one had probably been in open water for a good time, and clearer water. Nice fish though.

That'd be your common largemouth.

Are wipers the product of striped bass eggs fertilized by white bass or vice versa?  I'm guessing it is the former.

Wipers are produced by fertilizing eggs from white bass with sperm from striped bass; the resulting fish are also called "sunshine bass" or "Cherokee bass".

They're fun to catch. We just call them "stripe" around here because of their stripes.
