I live in northern Vermont and wondered if it will hurt my tackle to be outside in my boat all winter ?  I don't think it will hurt the hard baits, but what about all my rubber stuff ?  Thanks for any info you may have...

I keep all my stuff in the garage, which gets pretty dang cold still. If I didn't fish all winter I'd probably at least have my reels inside during the winter. 

I bring all my stuff (rods,reels, line, hard and soft baits, electronics) in the house. I leave everything else in the boat. I unhook the batteries and take them out of the boat. But they stay in the garage where I keep the boat. I throw the charger on them every couple weeks during the winter. I am not sure anything "needs" to be brought in, but it makes me feel better having it in the house, instead of 5 miles away in a cold garage. Plus I can tinker and play with it all winter too with out having to freeze my butt off.

All my fishing stuff sits by my bed. When i sleep my tackle box is my phone charging table and my rod rack is my end table lol. I dont do this just for winter i do it because its the only place i can put it and its just conveint to place stuff on top of them.

Thanks for the info, I do bring all my rods and reels inside, and take the batteries and electronics, out of my boat for the winter. I was mainly concerned with the rubber bait. Thanks again to all who responded.

The biggest enemy storing stuff in the cold will be moisture and condensation.   If things are bone dry you will have less of an issue, but if there is moisture anywhere it will not dry and linger for quite some time in freezing/thawing conditions.  Plastic baits with impregnated salt will eventually take on this moisture and make them appear as if they are sweating.   Hooks and hardware on hardbaits will eventually rust as well.    My boat almost never gets put away bone dry, so everything comes out.
