Any Lehigh Valley Secret Bass Spots??

Featured Replies

I know it's not a secret if you tell me where they are but I would love to hear about any sweet spots in or near the Lehigh Valley for largemouth or smallmouth bass?

I got a few! Where are you located?

The Lehigh river is good for smallmouths. Start fishing when the water temperature gets to 50 degrees and don't be afraid to use largemouth lures like big spinnerbaits and swimbaits for big fish. When the river is high fish in the slack water where there is no current and fish around big rocks that create current breaks. Hope it helps ya.

I did very well on the Lehigh this past fall for smallmouth. I caught 2 3lbers and my buddy caught a 5.5lb on the Lehigh right off of constitution drive. There is 3 or 4 really nice spots in about a half mile stretch back there

Leaser Lake use to be great for largemouths but then they drained it....again. :(

If you venture over in the area northwest of Harrisburg I can give ya a number of good spots.

I'm an Allentown guy as well and the few I know of are fished pretty heavy so it's quite tough. I started to venture out to the Delaware in Easton but with no luck. Have yet to try the Lehigh so maybe this spring since I'm so close. And are you talking about constitution dr on the east side where the fabled albino house is?

Wade or by boat?

i used to live in Allentown and I learned to love the Lehigh.  I killed it in Walnutport/slaitington.  I no longer fish it so I will give up "my Spot"

140 Railroad Street

Slaitington, PA 18080

That is the exact street address I put into my GPS on my iphone.  I walked down the bank and there is a really nice and long run.  Wading is almost a must IMO.   I actually caught some really nice trout there while smallie fishing.  I had success with live shiners (obviously) and keitech swing impact on a 1/8 jig head.  Please LMK how you make out there.  I havent fished there in 2 yrs.

Also, make sure to check when they release the dam... I was fishing and they released the dam, the water turned so dirty and was rising about a foot an hr.

Thanks JJ for giving us your spot! And A town angler yea I'm talking about the constitution dr on the east side. The fishing spots are actually pretty close to the supposed albino house lol

Glad to help.  let me know how you do man.  I had non stop action there... its nice to stumble upon a sweet spot.  I will say fish from the bank first bc there is a nice hole rite off of the bank.

I'm pretty much a bank guy, although I do have waders I picked up for trout and never used them.

They'll work for the river, both the delaware and lehigh have plenty of  shallows you can do with wading or just a pair of swim shorts. Safety is always key and I recommend using a walking stick if you go out and wade to check depth and contours. I've actually walked some parts of the lehigh for miles where the depth barely touched the hips, it also helps that the current in certain stretches are very weak, also a lot of eddys.
