Anyone Else Itching For A New 50 Sized Shimano Low Pro Reel.

Featured Replies

Tell me something, whats so special about round reels, the Conquest in particular? I've always been a low pro guy and have always felt that pop can reels felt weird in hands.

First of all they are built like a tank and will be something you hand down to your grandchildren if you have them. One of the big things that gets overlooked is how the reel foot is recessed allowing the Conquest to set down on the rod creating a very comfortable palming of the reel. I have a fair amount of both LP Reels and Round Conquests in all sizes and would not discount the comfort of either one. My suggestion to you is, since you like the 50 sized reel is get a your hands on a Conquest 50 and give it a whack as I do not think you will be disappointed.....

Put me on the list for the 14 Conquest 50 as I will then await for the 50DC..........

Hmmmm.... that's some pretty good convincing. My wife is going to lose it lol.

Actually I don't know how they could make a new CQ50. My 101 is tiny. If they made 7:1 gears for them I would sell everything else.

I think hedgehog studios is working on higher gears for it. I recall seeing a Facebook post from them about it.

A higher-speed gearset was made for the old CQ100 (6.something) but I've never seen anything for CQ-50s.  It would be great if Shimano offered at least two gear ratio options in these reels from the factory...

My brand new Black Friday Ch50E was delivered today. Can't wait to fish with it.

The 50 series Conquest is very easy to palm as its a tiny reel. Built like a tank and its a work of art.

Just wish it had faster gearing, lol. I'm also really excited for a new conquest 50 series reel, fingers crossed for 7:1 gears !!

Shoot, my old calcutta b size 50 was tiny... That reel was a lil tank. I fished it hard for 10 years, replaced the clutch bar, once.. There is not a tougher shimano reel around. I may spring on a 100, idk, I can be patient thou... I guess, lol

Check out Baka Rush as you will see they have some different offerings including gearing however timing is everything along with being able to understand Japanese......http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&hl=en&prev=search&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ja&u=http://baka-rush.ocnk.net/&usg=ALkJrhhLUNQSNl5N0ANC5Biykg4zYWUQJQ

Those are the gears I had seen for the CQ100. I didn't realize that they had made them for 50-size as well. According to their specs - it takes a 50 to about 25-26 IPT - a very usable number...  I can't understand why Shimano couldn't offer at least one more ratio from the factory - it would just be two more parts (drive and pinion gears) to make and keep in inventory...

I agree as it would create a lot more happy campers.....I am also hoping the 14 will address that issue.

I only have 1 50 size Shimano, but am looking to get another one (Conquest)... Curse you monkey! :computer-18:
