  • I like Shimano.  Strong, smooth, silent and reliant.

I think I've used just about every reel in this price range. The best all around, in my opinion, is the Shimano Curado I series. Others may be a better value, but I think it tops the performance in that range.

That is pretty much like saying which cake is the best? Chocolate or vanilla?  It's pretty much a matter of preference, but there's always a chance you could get a bad one, so there is no real answer.  Just pick the one that has the features you like.

Well I'm skipping the cake, I prefer ice cream...

For me, the shimano curado I 7.2.1

That's like asking what color is the best.

Jrob, that's an easy one. Green pumpkin, purple flake.

There will be no shortage of people to tell you which one  is the "best".   See how many of them tell you why.

$200 budget?  Hmmmm - one answer could be TWO Daiwa Tatulas - one in 5.3:1 ratio for cranking, the other in either 6.3:1 or 7.3:1 for all other presentations... ;)

So I guess he'll need another rod. Brace yourselves for a thread on which rod is the best.

No problem - one possible answer to that would be TWO Daiwa Tatula rods.....................................................................;)

Watermelon, red flake. :tongue8:

okbassguy - we're just having a bit of fun.  There is usually a "what is the best" thread about once or twice a week and most are similar in the types of responses that we see. aavery2 provided a very astute post that sums up the situation very well...

The best color is the one with a 15# bass hanging on to it.

Chocolate cake, I'm easily distracted.

Simple answer, yes, you're wrong. And Alonerankin, I didn't keep her because she was cheaper. I kept her because she was the BEST...lol.
