Revo Stx Gen3 Or Curado 200I

Featured Replies

I have a gen 3 revo stx I like it a lot I can get a curado 200i on a trade is the curado 200i a better reel

If you're looking for a reel to pass along to the next generation I'd probably give the Curado the nod. Primarily due to the dual bearing supported pinion. Features wise, the STX may have the edge, full floating spool, dual braking etc.  In use on a day to day basis, they're close performance wise. Then it comes down to preference.

curado hands down.i used to be a die hard abu fan.i had their stickers all over my tackle box &all my reels except for 2 were abus, but this new generation made me peel the stickers right off my tackle box. i guess the ones I got could have been lemons but they had issues right from the start. thumb bar would stick, they were loud, occasionally the line guide would get stuck,&the finish started to flake off& before anybody says I didn't clean them, i clean my reels every two months (I fish nearly every day).I do still own 4 abu garcia ambassadeurs my oldest one is one my grandpa gave me.he said its a 1960s or 1970s model& it has performed flawlessly.so i'm not completely against abu but as far as low profiles go I choose shimano.now for round reels it'd be a different story...

I certainly have heard quite a few disgruntled Gen. 3 owners.. Rarely have I heard much complaining on the Curado I or any other Shimano baitcaster for that matter. I use the "I" and it's a excellent reel. Not a single issue whatsoever.. Got my first, on release date. It's a fine reel at a great price.

I had a Gen 3 STX up until a couple of weeks ago. I have had a couple of Curado I's for few months now.  Although the STX served me well for a few years, the Curado I imho, outshines the STX. The Curado is much smoother and quieter during operation. The STX even after having it professionally stripped down and serviced still had a subtle geary sound and feel to it. It did not effect the performance of the reel I don't think, however it bugged me to no end. The Curado, completely different. Very smooth, very quiet, and a overall very nice reel at the $180 price point. My vote would be the Curado. Good luck.

curado for sure

Welcome to the Shimano club.  :eyebrows:

I sent my gen 3 stx in to abu twice in the first three weeks of owning it. The spool would not engage and i would have to reset the drag ever dozen or so casts...the third time i sent it back i told them to keep it. They said no problem and refunded my money in about two days.i bought a lews TP and all has been good. Now my gen 2 stx is my crankbait workhorse and its been fantastic

I also own a curado i...Love it! When the gen 3 stx workes it was quite comparable to the curado i IMO. I would however give the edge to the curado i.
