Masking Lips....

Featured Replies

When y'all put the epoxy on your lures, what tape do you use to keep it from building up on the edge of the lip, or do you put it on so lightly it's not a problem???

Yea I don't put tape on the lips. I don't have a problem with it.

Blue painters tape but whatever you are doing epoxy pooling in that area is not a good thing.

I normally install the lips after paint and when I brush on the finish I use a small brush to cut around the lip with the epoxy which helps hold the lip as well.

Thanks for the replies, right now I'm just repainting old baits, not building, but will remember that order when I do start that.

After several lures, I found that I could free hand the air brush, I also (after several adventures) got to be able to do the epoxy without masking....

Again. Thanks!!!

I clear my lips too and hang to dry with the lips highest up so top coat runs to the rear of bait, after it dries i trim excess thats hardened on rear of bait and clear out hook hangers
