Modified Poison Tail Jigs

Featured Replies

Well i only have one mold. I started with the poison tail from Do-it. BUT i wanted a multy purpose jig. So i sucked it up and modified the mold. It now can handle the normal EWG hooks for my swimjigs, a heavy duty round bend for flipping jigs, and i can open the eyes of the hooks to make bladed jigs. I also added a crew lock trailer keeper because i like to skip. Here is a short video i did.

As always questions, comments, and concerns are always welcome.

How are you opening the eye to attach the blade?

Nice work!

I use the bright orange butane tourch from harbir freight. Hold the hook with pliers, heat tils glows bright, then use another pair to open it. That is the first thing i do. Then olace in mold and pour.

Do a lot of the eyes break when you try to close them after putting the blade on?

Did I miss something?  I was wanting to see the mold itself.

i can post pictures of the mold, but this was pictures of the jigs from the mold.

I have only broken one eye and that was when i was opening it. I heated it up and opened it, but it wasn't open enough so i tried to open it more without heating it again and it snapped.

What size eyes are you using for the poison tail mold if you don't mind me asking?

they are 2.5mm. Its what the mold called for. they feel a tad small on the 3/8oz head but perfect on the 1/4oz head. i am using a regular flat stick on eye and then using a jig op coat to paint over the eyes and i put some on the bottom of the jig to help give it a little more protection and a super smooth surface for skipping.
