what do you think's best, using an ewg hook when rigging super flukes or an offset round bend?

 

Personally I like the fact that the bait looks more uniform with an offset round bend but fear that the hook-up ratio will be better with an ewg. what do you think?

I've tried both and hate the action with an EWG...i use a heavier wire round bend offset hook when weightless

I've also tried both over the years and between the 2, I liked the ewg better.

That being said I don't use either anymore.

The skip gap style are ideal for flukes and many other soft plastics.

cool good idea, I'll try a heavy gauge round bend when i get a chance.

I will have to try one of those hooks.....never even thought about trying one

It depends on how fast you want to fish them or how deep. Just changing hook weights can change how there fished.

I use to use Offset round bends because the bait would always want to slide down the EWG style hook but then I found the perfect hook. The Owner twistlock light in a 4/0, the number is 5167-141, these were designed for Senkos but man are they killer on a fluke or super fluke. I use the 5167-121, which is a 2/0, for super fluke jr., the screw lock holds the bait secure and the hook penetrates with very little pressure.

I also like using mister twister keeper hooks with flukes it dont tear them up as much and a diff action

You just beat me to it, these are fantastic Fluke hooks.

Try nose rigging a fluke with a dropshot hook in a 1 size, great action.
