California Barred Surf Perch Fishing Spots Socal?

Been trying to find some other good barred surf perch fishing spots in the VEntura area.  Ive been fishing mostly the jetties at Pierpont and the marina park area.  Wanted to know where to go north and south , exact spots.

I went fishing at santa clause lane in carpentaria for barred surf perch for the first time and me and my brother caught some nice ones fishing Carolina rigged sand crabs that we dug up, Anyways we only caught 8 but we weren't there for very long and only got one pic,

Looks similar to a sand perch that we have here in Florida, bucket fishermen love them.

I went Fishin at gaviota for surf perch.. But there was so much seaweed. We just kept getting snagged up

It is interesting that you said that about the crabs. We call them sand fleas on the east coast and they are a very popular bait for reds,stripers,trout, pompano and in particular tog[tau taug]

I use an aluminum  basket on a long handle to catch them.$5.00 a quart at the b & t shops.

Looks like a saltwater crappie.

I thought the same thing. Or even a chunky smallmouth lol.

Quite true a sand flea is a crab, great bait for pompano and permit.  Both are great eating fish and being in the jack family give you a pretty good fight.  We don't see them like we used to on the beach, don't know why.

Ya i went fishing for surf perch at el capitan wich is near gaviota but it was the same way.

It's a bummer there's so much seaweed.
