Personal opinion, I never buy reels that are branded with a person/fisherman's name on it.

x2 I usually steer clear too.

I have a bunch of the original version and I love them, my only reservation is the magnetic cast control vs the centrifugal of the previous model, but for flip and pitch it would work well...

EVA Reel Knobs... just no. just no.

I really miss the Gen 1. It was a good reel to me. Im sticking to Abu.

EVA is OK.. But PVC knobs on the Gen 1s and Low end Abu's are god awful! This is my opinion, and you have yours, but I can't say I like PVC whatsoever...

Right on. I fish Abu Garcia Pro Max to SX to STX to Revo S. They have been so great to me.

I also liked the first iteration of the first generation if that makes sense lol. The one review by TT was a great reel for me. First they switched the knobs from a zillion style to abu style knobs. Then when it dropped to $79 it lost little things like the grip on the thumbar. Then the outside changed from a smooth gloss to a kinda of tactile grip with more muted colors.

If it is akin to the original $99 model, then it should be pretty solid.

Thanks for the imput guys I agree with most of your takes. The old ones the way to go!!

I'd take an Abu skeet reel! Not any of the W&M reels, though.
