Garmin Echomap 73Sv Hd

Featured Replies

My family and I are in the market for a better fishfinder than the low grade fishfinder that came with our boat. We just recently went to a fishing show this past weekend and came across Garmins new line of fishfinders. I know Humminbird and Lowrance are popular brands so i was wondering how Garmin compared to them.

The title is the fishfinder we were looking at.

I played with a similar unit at BPS last week and was really impressed with how clear and easy to navigate it was. Seemed to be very well setup. I could tell you more about how well I like them in a week or so when my 2 93SVs get here for my boat :)

Yeah man please let me know. I agree they were very easy to use and another thing i like is how you dont have to spend even more money on chips, the lakes are all preloaded. But yes let me know how they work out.

Honestly I've been super curious about the new Garmin units as well.  They seem top notch and are priced very aggressively.

I use a Garmin 551dv and have not had an issue with it! I think this is "last years model" compared to what you are looking at. Seems like the price compared to Hummingbird and Lowrance, they seem to offer more features/specs. New kids on the block trying to make a name for themselves I suppose. If I was to buy another unit, it would definately be another Garmin.

I literally just got my Echomap 73dv yesterday and am installing it this morning. Garmin can now say that they have the clearest down scan in the industry, and their LakeVu HD maps are bar none the best maps out, with over 5700 inland lakes with 1' contours. It didn't take much to sell me oh it, especially being local. I'll have more later after I install and break it in!

Spring is coming up and we are still looking at the garmins. Just wondering if you guys had them installed yet and what you guys think.

Ondrejka got his set up and has been on the water with it. I saw the on the water pictures on FB and they were very impressive. He posted some pictures in the KC thread.

I got both mine mounted, waiting on the transducer mounts to get here before they'll be completely installed but I powered them both up and did a short video of me playing around with one of them, going through the screens I'll be using most often. Hopefully have some on the water shots this Friday.
