  1. Hi Everyone, I have had my boat wrapped in the past but am planning on buying a cover for storage this winter. I have a Nitro Z6 (17'4 is the length I think) and looking at some reviews online I think my best bet may be to get the StormPro cover for 17'-19'L boats (versus one that is a little cheaper for boats 16'-18.5'L). I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with these covers? Are there better values out there? It will primarily be used for winter storage in the Northeast, and not so much for traveling. Also, is it worth it to buy a cover for the outboard motor too? Any info is much appreciated!
  2. I have spoken with someone at Dobyns about doing this, and they were willing to adjust the price. I never went through with it, so I can't say how many I would have had to buy or what type of discount... but I would definitely suggest shooting them a note.
  3. Anytime, I am glad I can help. I had BPS install the Mark up front, and also the Garmin. But from the looks if it, they ran the wiring under a slot up front and down the side of my locker to the console fuse panel. For the Garmin, I had them run the bow wiring all the way up back to my main batteries (suggestion made by Wayne P. - Electronics forum Maestro). I mounted both to the trolling motor, the mark fit perfectly between my prop and skeg. The problem with Edge TM, is that the prop and skeg are on opposite sides. This caused a big problem with my Garmin transducer as it is around 6 inches long. Ended up having to drop some decent cake on this mount. BPS cut my skeg off and mounted that, and so far it has been great.
  4. Great fish man, I think some MS Slammers will be in my cart around the 4th of July....
  5. I scooped a Lexa last year when Dick's would have those random crazy sales, and I love it. Paired it with my DX702 and it has been fantastic. My other spinning reels are Pfluegers, which are also great. A President should run you around 60, leaving you plenty of money to get a BPS or Mojo rod.
  6. Only Megabass is truly not included, others can be included if you call the order in. I have done that in the past when ordering Simms gear. Smart man. I think I will be doing the same....
  7. I think that is a good plan for testing it, I usually just buy them online and roll the dice... but if I could get my hands on them prior to that is what I would do. Not sure how much of a rush you are in, but I would wait for the Tackle Warehouse/any online site 4th of July sale (if you do not take advantage of that Gloomis 20% discount).
  8. I am in the same boat as tholmes. I have rods of pretty much every type of grip design, it is definitely not a deal breaker. If I could have them all the same, I would take the full grips on Dobyns Champions casting rods.
  9. I do not have an answer, but I would like to give you my opinion... I did this exact same maneuver on my 2014 z6, and while I am almost positive their transducers are different (mark vs. elite), I will leave that stuff up to someone who knows better. But I will say that the Mark 5x is a complete POS. I would swap it out for an Elite 5 or 7 (not sure if a 7 will fit), and toss the Mark 5x. I had it up front for 2 seasons and could not depend on it at all. The readings never made sense, especially compared to the elite at the console (regardless of the data being 17~ feet apart). I ended up grabbing a Garmin 73sv on sale at bass pro over the winter and tossed it up front. Sorry for the long message, but I would not waste your time and money moving the mark 5x up front.
  10. Spit balling here, as others will be able to provide much greater insight (or search for already posted info) $30<: BBZ1 Swimbait + rat, Savage Gear Line Thru, Hudd 6/68 $30-50: Hudd 8, MS Slammer, S-Waver $50-500: Triple Trout, Suicide Glide, Gan Craft 178 $100>: Slideswimmer 175 + 250, Bullshooter, Roman Made Negotiator + Mother I have probably left out a good dozen that kill it, but these were just the first that came to mind.
  11. Lots of good info here, I know Dobyns was mentioned in an earlier post.. but i would look at the Champion 795. It is rated up to 5oz, so i think youd be fine if you threw a 6er. I have the 806 Mike Long rod (longer handle) and absolutely love it.
  12. Thank you, Tom. I think this is the one I am going to get.
  13. I have the lower end MK Edge, it is only a 12v. I will buy a 3 bank as I will eventually be upgrading. Thanks to you and everyone else for the suggestions. I will look for a 3 bank 10 amp charger.
  14. Hey Guys, This weekend my Guest 4/4 onboard battery charger stopped working in on my Z6. Double checked to make sure that I didn't blow a fuse on my wall outlet, and still wasn't getting a light on my onboard charger. I was curious what you guys use for your chargers. I currently have 2 12volts. - Should I target only 2 bank, 4 amp chargers? will the Minn Kota 210D be too much at 5/5? I am open to any suggestions, as i would like to invest in a charger that will last longer than 2 seasons.
  15. As others have said, I roll with Power Team Lures - Food Chain.
  16. Thanks for the responses guys!
  17. Hey Guys, Thinking about making a trip out here in August. Anyone have experience fishing here? Would it be worth a 4.5-5 hr drive (live in NE Mass)? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, CB
  18. Thanks! I like this a lot.
  19. Correct- the Garmin rep said the new ones will be called EchoChirp and ship in 5ish weeks.
  20. I have a 2014 Z-6. I do not have a ton of hours on the motor, but have spent a lot of time on the water and have had zero issues. I obviously would like to have purchased a Z-7/Z-18, but this boat provides me everything I need. I have it packed with tons of tackle and usually 20~ rods between me and my fishing partner, and have no problem going over 40mph to our spot.
  21. Agreed- I will probably do the same as I am looking for a new Dobyn's. I have emailed Dobyn's quite a bit in the past and they are always incredibly friendly.
  22. Hey Guys, I am planning to mount a new depth finder on my console and am looking for a mount that will let me completely adjust and level the graph. I like this mount, as it would let me swing the graph around for front deck viewing. My only issue is that it doesn't appear to let me level the graph and as it will not be mounted on a completely flat surface- I don't see how I will be able to adjust the graph to not be crooked when it is facing me. Is there an additional ball mount I can buy to let me level out the graph? or are there better mounts out there that will allow for full movement? I appreciate any feedback! http://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-109H-1U
  23. Picked up one for my bow and one for my console. Couldn't beat that deal.
  24. Is there anything you do to combat line issues? or are you keeping everything status quo? I use 6lb invisx, a Daiwa Lexa 2500 and a dx702sf. I thought maybe my weight is a little too light (can't remember the exact size) and the line issues come from the wind while the line is trying to get to the bottom. I have been drop shotting in 20-40ft depths, if that could somehow effect anything.. thinking maybe more time the line is trying to run off the spool while waiting for the weight to reach the bottom = more time for the line to tangle up more frequently.
