What Technique And Lure To Use In A 1Hr Showdown??

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I have a couple questions about a scenario for you? 10 fisherman in a 1hour Bass Fishing showdown, what technique and what lure or lures would you use? The winner of the 1hour showdown wins the Tournament!!

Please be specific, Lure Brand, Color and type of lure and what technique!

I would use a crankbait or something I could cover a lot of water with. If I was fishing around a lot of rock, it would be a crankbait if I were fishing around a lot of grass it would probably be a swimjig. Color etc. just depends on water conditions etc. You would have to be more specific.

Would depend a lot on the scoring method. Are you fishing for most fish? Most total weight? Heaviest 5? Biggest single fish?

Also depends a lot on time of year, weather conditions, and body of water.

Not enough info.  I mean that I'm probably going to throw a jika rig, around half an ounce with a brush hog or other creature bait or lizard on deep weed line edges or points, but who knows?

I can imagine situations where I'd want to be throwing a Lucky Craft Pointer.  Other situations - a square bill.  Other situations a wacky senko could be the ticket.  If you believe all the informercials - a banjo minnow or Terminator spinnerbait is the ticket.

So - more info please.

I'd burn the bank with a spinnerbait.

I'm gonna fish wind blown points with a Texas rigged 10" worm or 3/4oz football jig for a big kicker fish and go for broke on one big fish

Biggest Fish wins Bluebasser86!

I'd be frogging or flipping any weeds next to the sharp drop offs then.

Flipping a rage craw or a keitech 4.8 in SS

Probably would be throwing a DT10 in whatever color best matched the natural forage of the lake

Some Texas rigged piece of plastic ;)

1/2oz Green pumpkin jig with a green pumpkin paca chunk.  Grass or drops, this will catch bass and big ones too.

Zoom Magnum Trick Worm in black texas rigged . Catches the big 'uns.

Yea I agree with BB, if you are looking to win you gotta go for that one big bite which in my book means a jig. Careful not to work it too quickly due to the pressure of the time constraint. The tournament is designed to be go big, or go home.

I think this is the way to go.  A number of guys are going to get skunked targeting a single winner.  If just one hour, I'd better get something in the boat and for me, this would be the way to do it.  I'd probably start with a senko and I'd also throw something on a keel weighted hook alternating with that trig.  Get something in the live well and then worry about culling
