Well, gotta start somewhere. 1989 Cajun 16.5 feet. Has a Johnson 70 on it. 2 stroke. As far as the fuel do I put gas in the tank and then add two stroke oil to it directly in the tank spout? Or does it have a tank just for that itself? I found online a 70 Johnson 1989 takes 2.5oz to 1 gallon of the marine 2 cycle. Does that indicate the first option I mentioned?

Anytime I've mixed oil and gas.......I mixed it in a separate fuel can........that's just me.

The ratio is 50/1. Is this a VRO motor and is the VRO operating? Check and see if there is a remote oil tank.

Thanks! Like I said, I've had canoes, kayaks, jon boats, but this is my first bass boat. It's not a brand new one but it runs great, good shape, and I'm learning. :-)

Then it's not a VRO or the VRO has been bypassed. So, 50/1 is your number

Put the oil in first and then make sure you add the exact amount of gas to oil ratio. Mixes the oil when you do that too. It's a pain in the butt if you want to fill the tank and don't know how much the tank will hold.

My first bass boat (that ran anyways) was a little Cajun, smaller than that one even, with a little 50hp Merc. It was a great little boat that I really enjoyed fishing out of but the motor hadn't been taken care of and needed a new drive shaft, which was about 3 times what I paid for the boat. 

 

I had to mix my gas and oil direct in it. 

Congrats on the "new to you" rig! You are going to have to mix the gas and oil and 50:1 is the ratio. Dump it in before you add the gas and let it mix that way. If you do it before your trip it'll slosh around in the tank enough to be mixed anyway. If you go to Walmart they've got little oil containers that make measuring the oil very easy. You fill the bottle with oil up to the line showing the number of gallons you are going to add and then dump it in. Simple, cheap, and easy!
