Hey guys, I haven't bass fished in years. I was wondering if there are any general rules of thumb that go with how bass interact with the weather conditions. Like water clarity, air pressure, temp( I know more about this), time of day, wind... etc...Thanks!

Rules of thumb refers to olden days when it was legal for men to punish their wives, as long as the stick was no bigger around than their thumbs....

Only 1 rule of thumb for any kind of fishing, that's just showing up.  You get out there enough and you'll catch fish.

There are times when every bit of conventional wisdom tells you to stay home, those off periods can produce some of the best fish.

I believe the most general rule of thumb is "if your line and lure aren't wet" you haven't got a chance!

You ask for help but give no information in your profile of where you live, or if you have a boat or bank fish. Its hard to help with no insight!

Rule of Thumb: Never go to the bathroom facing the wind.

Rule of thumb:  If your thumb ain't rough, you ain't catchin' bass.

Welcome to the site...there is more information on here than you could ever read and the people are very helpful. My biggest rule of thumb is to use more natural colored lures in clear water and in muddier water use colors that contrast better like black.

Basic bass behavior is predictable using water temperature, light conditions combined with seasonal periods and local animal activity levels. Weather is unpredictable, we spend billions of dollars trying to forecast weather, however experience tells bass anglers that mild weather changes affect bass less than severe weather changes and low/high barometric pressure changes.

Bass being a cold blooded animal their activity level is directly tied to body temperature and that is whatever the water temperature they live in is.
