Favorite Color And Size Culprit Ribbon Tail Worm?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking my of getting away from dingers for a bit and running the culprit ribbon tails for a bit.what color and size are yall fishing? How do you like them?

I throw between 6-10 inch ribbons. I always prefer motor oil but that has to do with being in the north. I also enjoy some pumpkinseed spec colors. I throw them weightless Texas rigged and let them float down to the top of the weed or stump I'm trying to hit then pop it and let it sink again. Or I throw it weighted with a split shot and bump it up off the bottom. Either way seems to produce fish really well, on the right day.

Awesome thanks for the nice answer! That's what I was looking at was pumpkin seed, black/blue laminate type colors and such!

I throw both 7.5" and 10" ribbon-tails, mostly t-rigged but sometimes c-rigged or weightless.

My most productive colors are tequila sunrise, red shad, junebug and green pumpkin.

Your in Florida right? Try a redshad, something heavy on Gold ( Goldflake ) perhaps a June bug color in a 7" ribbon..Those colors should easily catch you fish. Or, pick out a color you really feel great about.. Then fish it hard!

6 inch watermelon seed is great for fall and spring bass in Jersey.

Yep I'm in Florida! I actually have a bag of red shad I've just never thrown them! I fish a lot of black and blue laminate stuff, and watermelon red

You got it! I would still grab something gold,

(Think Golden shiners) Plus, gold always seemed to flash better in the tannic or tannin colored waters of Florida. Of course those are my choices, but history shows they are solid choices for your state.

Here is a photo of my personal best bass caught on a 6 inch watermelon seed t-rig weightless ribbontail worm.

Wow thanks a lot for all the help everyone I really appreciate it!

7" fat max in Black Shad and the 10" Culprit worm in Black and Blue.

Ribbon tail worms are a great weapon, but not one to replace a stick worm. They are an action Bait and that action comes from moving it. Color and size preferences vary by water color, forage base etc. as with most baits. My motto when trying something new: K.I.S.S. OH YEA, don't forget black

Haha thanks for the replys. I appreciate the help and opinions. I know it's not a replacement for the stick baits but Id like something with a lil more action is all. I started on trick worms and moved to dingers and thought I'd give ribbon tail a try to change it up

9" Pumpkin Seed Fat Max on a VMC Drop Dead Hook.  If you can't catch fish on that...go home.  I ALSO like Culprit's Fire and Ice color in their regular ribbontail...whatever size you like to throw.

So far it's black, black/blue flake, pumpkin seed, and I'll probably go with a motor oils or watermelon red type color

I used to catch a lot of fish on a 7.5" Fire and Ice Culprit. Other good colors are black, junebug, red shad, and tequila sunrise.
