Do craw trailers work on buzz baits? Or, is that so obviously unreal fish know it? Anyone have success with odd jig and trailer pairings? I wonder because I saw a photo of a Rapala jointed bait modified in which the back end of the jointed bait was removed and replaced with a 4/0 hook and a plastic worm was attached. Certainly and unreal creation.

 

Some people say to match up the jig and trailer. Others say they purposely miss-match those. I only have heard this from videos on Youtube. What do you all think?

What make bass fishing so much fun is tinkering with lures, bass respond to a wide variety of lure modifications. Use your imagination and give it a try.

It doesn't matter. Try whatever you want. If a bass will bite this.....and they do.....a lot, then they will bite just about anything that looks alive, and sometimes things that aren't alive. I have seen someone catch a five pounder on a peice of a hotdog. Feel free to experiment.

Aw no man. The wild hot dog is fairly common in lakes and rivers around the US.  Its pretty elusive to us humans though.

Buzzbaits are pretty unnatural looking to start with right? Personally, I never fish a trailer on my buzzbaits but you're not going to make them look much more unnatural than they are straight out of the package. 

 

One of the lakes I fish often the fish much prefer a mismatched jig and trailer over a matching one. The big fish also prefer pork trailers much more over plastic trailers.
