Winter/early Spring Tackle Questions.

Featured Replies

Water tempurature in my area is between 45 and 50 f right now.  I was wondering what tackle you all were having success with right now and where/how you were fishing it.

I usually fish more slow lures. People love a jerkbait in this temperature.

i use shakey heads paired with a trick worm. square bill cranks. Jigs in natural colors. And even a craw on a chompers head

Anything you would normally use any other time of the year just slower. They usually won't chase a bait in those temps so it helps to put it right in front of their face.

I've been fishing a ton of lures, but haven't caught anything. My ponds have shut down and it is ANNOYING. Trying again tomorrow though! I won't give up. The really hot prespawn period usually starts third week of march for us in NC, so that is coming up soon.

I've been fishing in my dreams....... big bass explodes on a hollow belly frog through the ice....

It has to be pretty heavy, either heavy enough to punch through the ice or to make a long enough cast to get to an open hole in the ice  :dazed-7:

I hate winter.

Jerkbaits, jigs, or a shakyhead should catch fish in that water temp.
