Pflueger President Spinning Yes, Pfluger Purist Spinning ????

Featured Replies

I see a lot of posts about how good the " President" spinners are, and they are at a good price. But what about the "Purist" spinner? It's a couple more bucks but it gets no love anywhere. In fact it gets hardly any mention around here. Is it a new reel added to the Pflueger line? Can anyone give a review on the "Purist"? To me it's like spend another $20.00 and get the "Purist" or just another $20.00 and hold out for the new "Supreme".

Haven't fished the Purist or the President, but I own 2 Supreme's and if you can find them at a good price they are a really nice reel.

I had the Purist............meh...unless an Aluminum frame is important to you, which IMHO in a freshwater bass sized spinning reel it is NOT to me. Then skip it. I sold it and bought more Trions, and Presidents.

It's not worth the extra $20 IMO. Personally, unless you go with that great deal on the MGX, I'd stick with the Presidents unless you jump all the way to the XT. The MGX is nice, but they aren't $40 nicer than a President to me.

I picked up a Trion last night and like it so far, I'll have to see how it actually does on the water though.
