What Line Works?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, quick question. Even though monofilament line floats AND is good for topwater, can I still use it for lures that I want to sink, like a jig or senko type worm? If SO, what are some good types of line?

Also, would a copolymer line be better for me if I wanted to use it for topwater lures AND lures that sink? If SO, what are some red commended types of copolymer? Thank you for all tips AND opinions.

Yes you can use mono for lures that sink. I like Trilene Big Game in 12 or 15 lb. It is also relatively inexpensive.

Either way, I don't think it would matter if you used copolymer or mono. If you're using jigs with mono, you might have to step up the line size because the smaller the diameter is, the more stretch it has. I've tried to set a hook with a jig on 12 lb mono and it feels like a rubber band.

If you want to try a copolymer give Yo-Zuri Hybrid a try.

The more I think about these "which line is best " threads, the more I believe that it's like asking

"Which brand of gas and what octane is best to use in my vehicle ?"

They all work but everyone has a favorite which often revolves around performance & price.
