Is there a way to make a sticky poll post so people can vote and when this question comes up the poster will have all the info and options readily available. This is something that would be interesting to look at for me as well and would be a great resource for people looking to buy that next rod.

You'll get the same "inconclusive" responses that all the other "What's your favorite rod and reel" threads.  You're going to have the Shimano, Daiwa, Loomis, Garcia............etc., touting their favorite equipment.  Chances are it will leave a reader more confused.

My favorite is the best. Basically that is always the answer to that question.

New stuff comes out all the time, and it's hard to find an objective review of it all. It's better to pick a few anglers you relate to online, that use gear you're interested in, and see what they've said. That's what I do. Last step is to try one out if you can. Even just putting your reel on a rod can change your whole impression of a combo.

I agree about relating to a few people that you have faith in their opinion.  My list is short, 2 (was 3 but BassnBlvd been gone a while) people that fish for the same fish with similar techniques and lures that I use.  Real time is more significant if you can use a friends rod. 

No recommendation over shadows my own due diligence.
