Wileyxs And Costas

Featured Replies

I guess sunglasses are tackle right? I've found some costas and wileyxs for cheap. Im interested in getting them, but I got a big head. Cheap sunglasses tend to be tight around my ears and will give me headaches if I wear them too long. Does anyone else have this problem and want to save me some trouble?

Like so many other things in fishing(and life), you should always "try before you buy". But yes, good sunglasses are as important as your tackle, and yes I've had sunglasses that gave me a headache after awhile. My Costas do not.

I too am from the cranial enhanced group (size 8 hat if that helps). Costa Fisch are what I wear. Even those get a little tight towards the end of the day sometimes. Wiley X makes a big head pair too but I'm not sure what they're called.

Make sure you visit a store and try some on.

Costa breaks down frame sizes on their website but it's still best to fit them to your face. You want the frame to fit along your face but also you want as little gap as possible between your cheeks and bottom of frames to prevent light penetration.

The Man O War and Fisch are good choices. I like Zanes personally.

Any big stores that will have them? I'm driving from Chicago to Louisville in a few hours and I would def make a stop to try them.

Check website for retailers, otherwise, the big box sporting goods...BPS, Cabelas, ect. have them.

Dick's have Costas. But the models that they have in stock may vary from store to store.

Gander Mountain should also have some frames for you to try.

Stop by Bass Pro in Clarksville, IN, pretty sure they have both brands

I have a giant fat head, and Costa Fisch were the only ones that fit me comfortably. I will say this: Costa's 580G lenses are unparalleled for optics on the water. It's the one instance where all the marketing literature turned out to be true.

I find the blue mirror 580Gs to be a great all around pair of shades. They cut glare in bright conditions, but also very comfortable on overcast days. They don't flatly darken the way my Maui Jims do, and Mauis make great lenses too.
