Would depend how much you fish, how short the leader gets.  I change 1-2 times an outing on my saltwater gear, freshwater I can go quite a few days, I always check the knot.  In salt I tie my lures on and in freshwater I often use a duolock, that's the difference in timing for me.

I have used a double uni for braid to floro or mono for years and they can last many trips.  I am more concerned about the knot on the bait, it takes more of a beating.  I retie when the leader gets short or for some reason I am concerned about it.  Maybe I had to pull hard to get unsnaged.......

If the knot is going through the guides it can get beaten up so I would check every day, pull hard on it, doesn't look beaten up/frayed?  Then good to go.  If it starts fraying, looking beaten up, cut a few inches of braid and leader off and retie.  Shame to lose the big one to a bad knot.  But I agree that under the right conditions a line to line knot can last quite a while, especially if it's not going through the guides.

Some use super glue or UV cure epoxy on the knots to toughen them and provide a smoother surface going through the guides.

This, I fish freshwater but may only retie once or so on the water, but will retie before every outing. I use a Alberto knot for braid to flouro.

I will try that super glue idea.

I tie on fresh leader at the beginning of the trip, when it's too roughed up or too short from retying. I use floroclear so it's pretty inexpensive to add a new leader whenever I like.

Albright knot for me.
