Accident On Buggs

Featured Replies

Friend and his partner fishing the Virginia B.A.S.S. tournament on Buggs heard a loud "crack" and a 40-foot poplar tree fell on his boat.

His nonboater jumped off the end and lost his rod and reel.

Lots of damage to the boat.

Then the ants, who had eaten the dead tree causing it to fall, got into the boat and bite the guys as they made it back to the ramp.

Lucky for them that they were not severely injured or killed.

I think I posted a photo of the boat after the tree landed on it. Hope it is attached.

Wow, glad everyone is okay.  Makes me think to pay extra attention to my surroundings.

Weird...you never know what can happen. I'm glad that they are okay.

Glad everyone is ok as that could have been really bad.

I know while out in my kayak i have heard some creaking and moved out of the fall zone.  I tend to position my boat relatively shallow so i can use my stake out pole so this is always a concern for me, especially on windy days

d**n what are the odds ...

Freak accident for sure. I never heard of that happening. I have thought about it once when the wind bumped me into a dead tree. Glad the guys made it back to the ramp in one piece.

Glad everyone is ok. My home lake is loaded with with tall timber that falls all the time. Pretty sketchy stuff.

Most certainly glad everyone was ok , someone was certainly with them on this day !!

I've seen 2 pretty close calls with some big trees on windy days with other anglers , never seen one hit a boat before , it could have been far worse .

Thoughts and prayers , hopeful that they can get their boat back in shape and back on the water soon too !!

Geez, TIMBER!! Then, attacked by army ants, incredible ..

That was what got me, you go through that whole episode and then the ants start up on you.  I'm surprised the boaters weren't hit by lightning or a rogue wave on the way in...
