Tatula. Tws Grooving?

Featured Replies

my frog reel choices narrowed down to curado i or another tatula. i own both these reels in other setups and love em both. on some reviews people say the T-wing will wear out or get grooves with heavy use. does anyone use a tatula for frogging with braid and have any issue with the T wing?

I don't use a tat, but.. I have followed this phantom issue for a couple years. It's a non-existence problem. I'm sure before the day is over there will be plenty of tat users confirming this as well.. Rest easy..

Have used a couple tats for cranking and frogging since they were first released. I haven't had any grooving.

I heard somewhere it was a problem with spiral wrapped rods. Not sure though.

I've seen less than a dozen photos confirming the grooving issue. With how many Tatulas that are being used by people, I'd feel safe taking my chances. Plus Daiwa has great customer service so I'd have no doubts that it would get replaced if it did happen. I have owned 3 and they have been fished hard and I've had 0 issues. The spiral wrap guide thing was from TT in the beginning when they first came out. I've heard nothing about it since that initial review.

I have mine on spiral wrapped ALX rods....no problems yet.

its been entertaining to follow this subject on other sites, but I would take my chances. If anything Daiwa would just send you a new one.

All I ever see are the same two pics circulated.  They're always attached to some sketchy poster, and they never seem to want to answer the question, "Did you contact Daiwa about this?"  So, I really don't think it's a real issue anymore than bigfoot is.  It might actually exist....but.....

I think it's time for a new rule. I propose this. The first person to mention Bigfoot loses the argument.

I don't know.. But if red earth see's this about big foot he may chime in, lol

Luke (iabass) posted pics from his tatula and both where grooved from regular use. Not saying it's a huge problem, but it has happened.

Some reports of grooving have come from NON-braid use. To me if it were to happen it would be caused by long constant retrieves like lipless cranks spinnerbaits with thinner lines more than with say flipping thick heavy braid.

With new braid I did see two spots on the wing at the points of the W and I thought oh no grooves but it turned out to be just the coating built up and it wiped away.

Dammit

I'm sending Bobo and the crew your number and tell them you want to take them Squatchin' around the lake in your Bullet

No, send his number to the Mountain Monster crew.  They are much more fun to watch.

Hey survivor man Less Stroud is looking for Bigfoot. That guy is legit. More power to him.

I have 3, one got used a LOT with 14lb mono throwing spinnerbaits..... no grooves.  Cranked with the other 2 using mono, but they didn't get used nearly as much....no grooves.

Pics or it didn't happen!

I had a Tatula that got the grooves using flourocarbon. Have another with braid that is not grooving. I cannot confirm if the one that had grooves came that way like a tool issue at the factory or it happened with use. Took it back to BPS and they confirmed and replaced it. I await all the folks calling me a liar now.

I for one don't believe you.

Hold on fellers, I'm getting the popcorn & beer ready! Lol...

Those grooves look verticle, wonder how that could happen?

I've ate dinner with the Abominable Snowman but I draw the line when he ask his cousin, Skunk Ape to join.
