When you're fishing, how would a clear sky situation affect your color selection as opposed to an overcast situation?

Not mine.

Very similar to water clearity. The more light penetration, the more subdued the color. Less light penetration, brighter colors. With bladed baits I'll use chrome under clear skies and gold under cloudy skies.

Honestly, I tend to fish by this same theory, but then everyone says when fishing at night, use the same things you would any other time..

Shad don't turn chartreuse when the water is muddy and crawfish don't turn black and blue.........But my baits do

Conventional wisdom, dark water dark color, clear water light color.  I don't pay much attention to color.

It doesn't. I might change baits or presentations though. I do have one or two special colors that seem to work better at one or two lakes than others.

I think color is overrated ,back in the day its was a friendly argument over black,purple,brown,blue and chartreuse,white.now its just plain chaos for the newbies.i feel for yall .dont get me wrong i LOOK at all the fancy colors also.But i walk out with what works and it aint what denny Brauer,hank parker or even what KVD uses.and i do perfectly fine

Just keep your color selections very basic. Cloudy I tend to use darker baits such as black and blue or junebug. Sunny days I would use green pumpkin or watermelon. I think location of the fish might be different from cloudy to bluebird skies, but I do not believe color is a large factor. I think fish are a little more adventurous when it comes to leaving cover on cloudy days and can be easier to catch. I focus more on temperature and water clarity then I do on my sky situation.

The more cloudy it is i like to use brighter colors.  More realistic baits for sunny days
