Antique Reel - Martin Automatic Fly Reel

Featured Replies

I've come across this reel in the box with the papers. I'm not into antique / vintage tackle enough to know if it's worth anything or not. Anyone with insight or a contact that may know more about it please let me know. Thanks

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

I had & fished that reel as a boy -

Not feeling too good about seeing it offered as an "Antique".

Only because it reminds me that I am . . .getting there.

I remember them, didn't have one myself but had a cousin that used them quite a bit.  I guess maybe you can add me to the vintage group too!

Unfortunately the old Martins won't fetch you a bunch of $$$, but they are a classic for those of us that used to use them. Now if it were a vintage Hardy...I would be begging you for it!! :eyebrows:

Well aged, like a fine cheese?

First fly reel I ever used. Bluegill fishing and my buddy let me try his...... began an interesting hobby for me..
