Using Braid For Everything?

Featured Replies

Anyone do this? I have 7 rigs , 6 casters, 1 spinning, all with 10-65lb. braid. Honestly I've never uses anything other than braid. I don't necessarily have any issues but as I become more an more infatuated with fish year after year, it just kind of dawned on me the other day maybe be braid for everything isn't the best thing to do? What's your thoughts on this guy's?

Braid with leader 99% of the time.. straight braid when pitching weeds or punching.

I have FC on most of everything ever since i switched to the casters. I have issues with the braid getting bedded into the spool. Anyone else have issues with that? Anyone have any advice on how to correct?

Don't lock down your drag, and don't pull on snags by using the spool.

I have quite a few fishing combos, I fish a number of different species, environments, boat and shore.  Everything is braid and leader with 1 exception, I have 3 offshore outfits used on head boats.  These boats either don't allow or braid or if they do, they just cut when you get tangled up, which always happens.  I have another 3 offshore set ups for use on private boats, they all have braid.

As much as I love braid. I love fluoro just as much. However, I can totally understand people who run straight braid for everything and just add leaders as it really does make things simpler. Maybe it's a confidence thing, but the abrasion resistance fluoro gives me makes me a lot more confident to throw stuff into rocks and wood

Im a mixed bag...1 Spinner with 6lbs mono, 1 baitcaster with 12lbs floro, 1 baitcaster with 40lbs braid
