Best lipless for pitching/throwing in hard cover

Featured Replies

I was wasnting to give pitching a lipless crankbait into cover, but did not know if there were a better one to do this with. I saw on the Roland Martin show that he was using a Spro Aruku, but thought that the fact that he had that sponsor played some part in that. Help if you can

Rat L Traps work well i use them to pitch into cover let them sink or sit for a moment then crank away.  they have different weights for your desire.

Good luck

Dunno, they all seem to get hung up pretty much the same for me.  Just make sure you have a heavy pound test, and a lure retriever.

Find you a big ole stump field and ricochet Rat-L-Traps off em  :)

I've been thinking about this application as well, specifically throwing a Bluegill pattern Aruku Shad onto bass beds in cover.

I purchased some weedless mustad hooks with the intention of replacing the factory trebles with these single hooks to reduce snagging.  Anyone do anything similar?

Try taking the back treble off and replacing the front one with a #1 round bend treble. It will become more snag free and still hang on to the fish. I have been doing it for over a year now and it comes through the flooded timber very well. It still gets snagged from time to time but not nearly as bad as it does with two hooks.

I also prefer Rat-L-Traps but there was a sale at BPS with Strike King' Diamond Shad for $1.98 and couldn't pass them up, especially how I had just lost my last Rat-L-Trap.  Picked up 7...  They also had Rattl'n Rapala's for the same price!
