First cold front produces
Well as many of you know, we got the first cold front of the season (errr, what we Floridians call a cold front) over the weekend. I was already assuming the worst, no power fishing just slow patterns. Boy, was I wrong. Sunday was just as good except I lost what could of been my Largemouth PB. It looked at least 6+ but on it's jump, I lost it Saturday 6-9:30am (8 fish, including two 5+ pigs, the rest 1-3lb and lost 2) Sunday 6-9am (5 fish, ranging 1-4lbs) Here are some of them including the two pigs from Saturday: 5-10lb Largemouth- Gambler 10" Ribbon Tail Worm (Florida Five-O) 5lb Peacock - X Rap (Purple Shad) I believe a PB 3lb Largemouth - Booyah Buzzbait (Chartreuse w/Black specs)

Peacock Bass in Miami
I have never caught a Peacock on anything SLOW. It must be fast and erratic. They just didn't like the lures that day or passed by me when they were done feeding.

Gary Yamamoto Baby Craw - Good Deal
Can't say that I use them alone, but have had good success using them as a trailer.

Peacock Bass in Miami
I can attest to that, its tuff! I've caught a few decent LM (1-3#) but Peacocks are just following the lure. My luck with Peacocks are: XRaps, RatLTraps, Spro Frogs and Topwater plugs.

My first big one!!
Congrats on your PB!

strke king pure poison
Nice Betsy, nice... Congrats on the PB!

Have you seen bass do this??
I have seen this once or twice in regards to Largemouth, but see this almost always I go out with Peacocks... However the last two months or so, I'm seeing more younger packs (sub 1'lbers) than bigger/older Peacocks; post spawn I reckon.

A GOOD MORNING IN CULTER BAY!!!
Nice bass. Did you guys try any plastics/hard baits while you were out?

7/6/07- My first fish on a jig
Congrats on the new PB... I'm also trying to learn the ways of the jig, but as you mentioned it takes patience which I don't have.

Inshore Redfish
Nice Red! What bait were you using?

First Walleye and funny story
Indeed a very funny circumstance... I can just picture the Heron flying away with your friends screaming...

Moving water and furious Peacocks
Thanks for the quick response Bass Mekanik. I will definately have to test out live bait for the beloved Peacocks.. I actually caught a Tilapia on an Xrap and as I was bringing it in, a hefty 7+ (an assumption, but I've seen plenty 5-6# and it looked bigger than that) Peacock bit half of it off. Ended up with my Xrap and a Tilapia head. It was a few years ago but will never forget it; I've seen this countless times in saltwater but never in a freshwater environment. Thanks again for the tips...

Moving water and furious Peacocks
I'm curious as I have never fished with live bait (freshwater). What are you using to catch the baitfish? Are you netting or fishing for them?

Moving water and furious Peacocks
Nice Peacock! I'm on a Peacock drought for a few weeks now.. :'( I'm needing my fix...

frog questions
I would say my most effective retrieve with the Bronzeye would be twitch, twitch, twitch and pause; I vary the pause frequently. But as you said yourself, you need to vary the retrieve and speed depending on what the fish want at that given time.

A few Peacocks Pics
Yup, that's definately it... Man, that's one of my usual spots (shoreside as I have no boat). You didn't happen to see a BPS bag of plastics that morning??? It turns out I had to take off rather quickly one Sunday morning a few weeks ago and left it behind on the point (next to where you would launch the boat) Nevertheless, give me a hollar next time your in the vicinity... OBX-BASS, Most lakes South of W. Palm will usually hold Peacocks, there awesome! Send us the pics when you catch them!

New Rapala Shad X-Raps
Yes, BPS has them in stock (in Florida at least).. I've used them for a few hours last weekend and picked up about 7-8 largies but all 1.5# and below. Hopefully they will work for hawgs as well.

Priceless! jomatty, congrats on the excellent outing with your son!

Finally got to the lake!!!
Sounds like you had a great day for your first outing back. BTW - I guess your camera is telling you that you need to go out more often so it can work...

Rapala Super Shad Rap - anyone use?
I picked up a few of these last week but unfortunately have not been able to try them out. These should do well as I have good success with the X-Raps. Let us know how you did with them when you get out on the water.
