  1. Just to let you guys know that I was at the BPS in Ft. Lauderdale earlier this morning as I was sifting through the clearance baskets I noticed this guy adding some shelves with some Rapala packages. Sure enough, they were these new Shad Raps.. I picked up 4 @ $6.99 each (not too bad): Purpledescent, Gold, Hot Steel and Yellow Perch. The detail/quality is superb. I will be giving these a try this weekend for Largies and Peacocks and will fill you guys in then...
  2. Well, I'm already an XRap junkie, so it's only normal for me to get some, rite?? : -I don't think I would win this argument with my wife though...
  3. On a jig??? Man, I need to practice that... Just starting to use jigs but I had no idea the Peacocks would go for them. Congrats, nice Peacock! edbassmaster> We do have some decent size Peacocks down here, but nothing compared to the Amazon Peacocks... I saw a 6# about 8 months ago in the C4 canal but the littler ones were all over my bait. Average size I would say is 2-4# but they fight hard!!! Check out the stats: http://www.peacockbassassociation.com/html/world_record_peacock_bass.html
  4. I agree, their expression are priceless!!
  5. Nice Peacocks, they really do do a number on thumbs...
  6. I also prefer Rat-L-Traps but there was a sale at BPS with Strike King' Diamond Shad for $1.98 and couldn't pass them up, especially how I had just lost my last Rat-L-Trap. Picked up 7... They also had Rattl'n Rapala's for the same price!
  7. Being a bank fisherman I can certainly understand. Just went to BPS here (of course the bait monkey attacked me; luckily I only spent $100 - not too bad) and they had there lure retrieval on special $6.99 and even though I haven't used it, I'm sure its going to save me money in the long run. I generally loose 1-2 baits every trip, whether it be jerkbait, crankbait or jig. But I can tell you that I will be able to get some of those back now. As a matter of fact, I'm waiting for the water to get a bit warmer so I can start snorkeling the flats and picking up some of my XRaps/Crankbaits...

I agree with ghoti, Best results with using it T-rigged with a 3/8oz bullet weight not pegged (I let it roam). Cast, sink and slow retrieve.
  9. Outstanding Peacock! They surely love that Xrap; that's my go-to bait for them... I've only caught two this year (2-4#) so I need to do some catching up. :
  10. Not sure yet but I hope to tell you at the next meet!!
  11. Oh my!!! logger took the words right out of my mouth; two of those in the same day!!! I guess your bad days would be my god days, huh. Seriously, nice HAWGS and thanks for the pics!
  12. Nice pig you caught there - errr, I mean your wife!! 8-)
  13. Great pictures and congrats on the new boat!!
  14. Did a quick three hour trip to the neighboring lake and caught two dinks and a nice semi pig on a Berkley 4" Power Hawg in pumpkin seed. Wish I had more time but I had many home projects lined up today.
  15. I also like the show; the Swindle/Claussen was the best rivalries on UMF.
  16. I will have to agree with CyBasser here. I've rigged the Senko T-rig both weight and weightless (3/0 EWG Gamakatsu). Some days they prefer the weight, other times they prefer weightless. stroz, thanks for the tip on using it wacky when they get beat up.. Never thought of it, duh!
  17. I'm in agreement with roadwarrior. I use Hybrid exclusively..
  18. I also loose quite a few. Fishing from the bank will do that to you.
  19. I fish Yo-Zuri Hybrid exclusively; just love it...
  20. This will give you a start: http://www.floridabassfederation.com/clubs
  21. Anywhere as long as it's on a boat; way to long shore fishing... DREAM, DREAM VAC. SPOT: Hunting Peacock's in the Amazon (Brazil/Peru)
  22. That's definately a KEEPER!!! Congrats, JT!!
  23. You got that rite! Last secret Santa I received a coffee mug w/jelly beans... :-/
  24. Drop shot; simply because I don't own a boat, mostly fishing on the bank.
  25. Thanks for the link! I actually need to re-stock these.
