Recommendation For Plastic/jig Rod Under 200?

Featured Replies

You will get a lot of rod for 200$. My personal recommendation would be a St. Croix Avid or Pinnacle Perfecta DHC5.

MHX high mod gen 2 custom with alconite micro guides and Eva grips should run you under 200. I'm sure Mike from DVT could set you up.

Been using a BPS Carbonlite 7' MH for several years on the Potomac for my plastics.  I have found it to be incredibly light and tough. On sale for $20 off they don't cost and arm and a leg and give great performance.

I use 6'9" MH ex. fast Carbonlite as my plastics rod and actually most of my jig fishing too. Good rods for the money, caught a lot of fish on it, plus set the hook hard on more stump bass than I care to mention, lol.

Have to agree on the Pinnacle Perfecta too, VERY nice rod at a good price, but you have to like that ACS handle. I have one and if it weren't for that, I'd own several more.

Shimano Zodias, Loomis E6X, St. Croix Avid.

New lews custom speed stick...I've been slowly acquiring more and they are fantastic rods. The hm85 are on clearance at TW and are crazy good.

Avid from St. Croix, depends on how and where you fish either the 6'8" MXF or the 7 MHF, either one you choose you have an American Made rod, with a Lifetime Warranty, and the best Customer Service in the industry,,,, :thumbsup1:

Which one would you recommend for jig fishing into heavy cover such as fallen trees?

My first choice would be a Kistler KLX. 2nd choice would be a Phenix Recon 2.

Enough people don't know how great these rods are.

The MHF if that was your average situation, if that is all you will be fishing is heavy cover and a lot of wood,,, I'd look at maybe going to the HF,,,,
