Can't Catch 'em, Don't Feel Bad

Featured Replies

Fishing is weird. You have the feeling that there are fish where you are fishing, you've caught them there before, but they won't bite. I just looked at the 2015 Classic results. Two guys in last place got zero. Those at/near the top caught their limit, and good fish. Those guys at the bottom are no slouches or they wouldn't be there. I assume that those guys did fish.

Wow. Mind. Blowing.

May not be quoting Dickens, Shelley or Keats, but there's a good point...or at least a question in there.  Did  Van Soles and Troy Diede fish the tournament?  And, if so, might not some of us take a little solace in their results?

Even if they didn't, I see a couple names I recognize with single digit weight totals ---   and I don't know anything about and don't follow pro bass fishing.  So, I don't wish bad luck on any of them, it somehow makes us feel a little better when a pro has trouble getting bit.

This thread delves far too deeply into the intellectual and analytical intricacies of the dedicated pursuit of Micropterus Salmoides than I am willing to go.....

You make a good point. I always tell guys to read the tourney standings from last place up, not from the top down. Everyone focuses on who won, and the media loves to spotlight a winner, but if you start at the bottom, sooner or later you'll see every angler, including the big name "favorites," right down on the bottom and not even close to being in contention. Lots of guys beat themselves up when they have a tough day, but that's fishing. Nobody catches them all the time, even the best in the world.

I feel great, this is the first Spring I'm actually catching numbers. Not size, numbers... last Spring I didn't catch squat.

He wasnt good enough .

Is he still actively on the circuit or is he pulled a zillion directions with his fame and business interests? I have no idea, I have not followed bass tourneys. He seems to have done something right in the past. Does he have a good or bad reputation?
