Need Help Deciding On Line

Featured Replies

I have a silver max and inferno red 7 ft mh and a lews Jason Christie inferno red 6 6 medium Action. I want to spool both us with power pro just need help deciding on test strength to optimize

15# or 20# = 4# mono or 6# mono....I recommend Sunline FC Sniper fluoro for a leader if finesse rigging! My go to :)

Be mindful that the lighter the braid, the more it digs on casting gear. I wouldn't go lighter than 30#, I tend to use 50# the most with a fluoro leader.

What about 30# on spinning and 65 on casting?

I would throw as light as I saw fit on spinning. 30 # would be heavy on spinning for some. I have 65 # on one of my casting outfits right now. I use it for jigs, heavy cover, and smaller swimbaits. I always tie a fluoro leader except for with the spro rat and smaller glide baits.

I think you would get better distance with #50. I would only use #65 in heavy veg. 20-30# would be fine on spinning.

10 lb on spinning cast great. I have power pro 40 lb on a baitcaster and it digs in and can stop suddenly on cast. Others seem fine with it. Maybe 60 would solve it. The 40 does pitch great. If you are a long caster you may not care for braid.

60 won't solve it, but it helps some. I have 65 # smackdown on that casting rod I previously mentioned. It's top notch braid that's not supposed to dig as much, but it still does sometimes after breaking off a bad snag. You gotta check any braid after bad snags in my experience.

15-20lb braid on spinning gear. 40lb braid on B/C gear in general. Certain applications will require higher lbs, depending on the type of cover you are fishing in.
