Which Dobyns To Get?

Featured Replies

I'm looking into getting 2 Dobyns rods in the near future and I'll be ordering one of them in the next few days. I already have a Champion 734 and was wanting to know if I could only get 2 more rods to round out my collection which should I get? One of them can be a Dx and the other a Champion.

What techniques would you like to use them for? Bass Tackle Depot has them 20% off right now for their Memorial Day Sale.

I need two rods that would allow me to do basically anything. I was looking into getting a Dx 744 and a Champion 703 for smaller baits like senkos and flukes

wasnt the fury line supposed to come out this month?

They were just shipped to distributors on the 20th according to Dobyns Facebook page admin. Probably on the market in 1 or 2 weeks after they go through inventory.

No need for the DX 744 if you already have the Champ 734. I would go with the DX 745 and the Champ 733 like iabass8 said, or the 703 if you want a shorter rod.

Is the dx745 too stiff to cast 3/8 ounce jigs?

The dx745 is fantastic for 3/8 -3/4oz jigs

The 5 powers are a great jig rods. Personally I found them to be more than I needed. I don't fish anything over 1/2 oz (jig, trig, spinnerbait, etc.) and I found the 744 to be enough. The 4 power in my opinion is the most versatile in the Dobyns line. If you need the extra power, definitely step up to the 5 power. personally, I would have rather had two 4 powers, but that's just because they fit my style of fishing better. I also really like the 2 power casting rods from dobyns. I've had the dx742c and champion 702c. I really like both and still have the 742c. really, I think there's a lot of overlap between the 3 and 4 power and a 2 power would add more across the spectrum. But, this is also coming from a guy that likes senkos and shakey heads a lot.

I have the same rod.it's perfect to say the least.

90% of my fishing is senkos and light t-rigs so I'd go dx743 (awesome rod) and a 735.
